Authenticated friend-list disclosure via unchecked user ID
Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026
IDOR in the friends REST API in BuddyPress 14.4.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read another user's friend list. The get_items_permissions_check method accepts an arbitrary user_id after checking only that the requester is logged in, without verifying ownership of the requested friend list. Any authenticated account can enumerate private social connections; the reported effect is disclosure only, without modification or service interruption.
