Authenticated code execution via Git argument injection
Published Jun 20, 2026 · Updated Jun 20, 2026
Argument injection in Prefect 3.6.23 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands on worker machines. GitRepository passes user-controlled commit_sha and directories values to git without validation or end-of-options separation, allowing flags such as --upload-pack to invoke external programs. Deployment-creation permission is required, and successful exploitation compromises workers that service shared work pools.
