Arbitrary file read via absolute-path fast path
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Path traversal in FreeScout before 1.8.224 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server-local files through App Logs. LaravelLogViewer::pathToLogFile returns any existing absolute path before applying the storage/logs directory check, and the controller downloads that path. The App Logs route is admin-only by default, and exploitation also requires the APP_KEY to forge the encrypted dl parameter; access is limited to files readable by the PHP worker.
