Sensitive file disclosure via Windows path aliases
Published Jun 22, 2026 · Updated Jun 22, 2026
Path traversal in the Vite dev server before 6.4.3, 7.0.0 through 7.3.4, and 8.0.0 through 8.0.15 allows remote attackers to read denied files. The deny check evaluates unnormalized NTFS alternate-data-stream syntax and 8.3 short names as allowed paths before Windows resolves them to protected files. Exploitation requires network exposure, a sensitive file inside server.fs.allow, and an NTFS volume or Windows volume with 8.3 short-name generation enabled.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
