Authenticated command execution via unchecked policy_name
Published Apr 2, 2026 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
OS command injection in TRENDnet TEW-657BRM firmware 1.00.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands via setup.cgi. The vpn_drop handler passes the request's policy_name value to the COMMAND function without validation, allowing shell metacharacters to alter the executed command. Access to the router's authenticated management interface is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied operating-system commands with the web process's privileges.
