Authenticated Administrator escalation via unchecked role update
Published Aug 21, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Privilege escalation in LeafWiki 0.1.0 through 0.10.0 allows remote authenticated users to grant themselves administrator access. The PUT user update endpoint accepts a role value from the request and saves it to the user object without checking role-change authorization. Any valid non-admin account that can reach the self-service update API can gain control of restricted content, users, pages, and settings.
