Unauthenticated settings update via unchecked POST parameter
Published Apr 24, 2026 · Updated Apr 24, 2026
Missing authorization in HM Plugin Books Gallery 4.8.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to alter the book post-type slug. The admin_init handler tests only for a permalink_structure POST parameter, then writes its value to wbg_cpt_slug without a capability check or nonce verification. No account or user interaction is required, and changing the stored slug changes generated book URLs and breaks existing links without exposing content or executing code.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
