Cross-site scripting via unescaped line class
Published Jun 29, 2026 · Updated Jun 29, 2026
Cross-site scripting in MDEx 0.11.3 through 0.12.2 and MDExNative 0.1.0 through 0.2.2 allows remote attackers to inject script via Markdown. LumisAdapter shlex-parses highlight_lines_class verbatim, and write_highlighted interpolates it unescaped into each rendered line's double-quoted class attribute. Exposure requires untrusted Markdown, Lumis syntax highlighting, full_info_string enabled, and a viewer; injected JavaScript runs in that viewer's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
