CVE-2026-53422Network attack vector

Authenticated filesystem enumeration via SFTP REALPATH oracle

Published Jul 2, 2026 · Updated Jul 2, 2026

Observable response discrepancy in affected Erlang/OTP ssh releases allows remote authenticated users to enumerate host paths via SFTP. The SSH_FXP_REALPATH handler passes Canonicalize=false to relate_file_name/3, leaving traversal components unresolved before root checking and exposing response differences from resolve_symlinks/2. Exploitation requires an authenticated SFTP account and a server configured with the nondefault root option; it reveals path existence but not contents or write access.
