Service crash via inconsistent Nikon row metadata
Published Apr 2, 2026 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in LibRaw 0.22.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash RAW-processing applications via crafted TIFF/NEF files. LibRaw::nikon_load_padded_packed_raw allocates a row buffer from load_flags but indexes it using raw_width without ensuring that the allocation covers three bytes per two pixels. A target application must pass the crafted file to the vulnerable decoder; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash.
