CVE-2026-53404Network attack vector

Rewrite bypass via skipped non-OR conditions

Published Jun 29, 2026 · Updated Jun 29, 2026

Improper control flow in Apache Tomcat allows remote attackers to bypass configured RewriteValve conditions over the network. RewriteRule.evaluate skips every condition covered by an OR group, but parsing incorrectly extended the ornext flag to the following non-OR condition, so a first-condition match omitted that required check. Exposure requires a configured RewriteValve rule with an OR chain followed by a non-OR condition; the rewrite then succeeds despite that later condition being false.

Exploitability

Present is not the same as exploitable

Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
