CVE-2026-53352

Kernel warning via stale job-control flags

Published Jul 1, 2026 · Updated Jul 1, 2026

Race condition in affected Linux Kernel releases allows local users to trigger a kernel warning via concurrent stop-signal and execve() operations. zap_other_threads() resets group_stop_count but leaves JOBCTL_PENDING_MASK set on the calling thread, causing later signal handling to decrement the zeroed counter. Exploitation requires a multithreaded process to receive a stop signal while one thread executes execve(); the published reproducer reaches a kernel warning.
