Authenticated arbitrary file write via ZIP path traversal
Published Apr 2, 2026 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Path traversal in OpenCart 4.1.0.3 Extension Installer allows remote authenticated users to write files outside intended directories. The install action takes ZIP entry names, joins them to a selected base path, creates their directories, and passes the resulting path to file_put_contents without rejecting traversal segments. Administrative Extension Installer modification permission is required; a crafted archive can create attacker-chosen files wherever the web-server account has write access.
