CVE-2026-53275

Adjacent stale read via reallocated MLD buffer

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux Kernel IPv6 multicast handling allows remote attackers to trigger a stale kernel-memory read via an MLD query. In __mld_query_work, a saved multicast-group pointer is dereferenced after pskb_may_pull can reallocate and free the original skb header. The query must arrive over IPv6 from the local link; the demonstrated consequence is a KASAN-detected stale read in kernel workqueue context.
