CVE-2026-53266

Local privilege escalation via shared-page ARP rewrite

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Memory corruption in the Linux Kernel ebtables SNAT target allows local users to overwrite shared pages during ARP address rewriting. The target calls skb_store_bits() after skb_header_pointer() supplies only safe read access, leaving nonlinear splice-backed fragments shared. Exploitation requires CAP_NET_ADMIN and an ARP-rewriting ebtables SNAT rule; successful writes can corrupt file or process memory or crash the kernel.
