Kernel out-of-bounds read via unchecked Bluetooth TLV
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in the Linux kernel Bluetooth MGMT parser allows local users to trigger a one-byte over-read via malformed advertising data. The tlv_data_is_valid() function inspects an EIR type byte before proving that the length-prefixed field contains that byte. Reachability requires local access capable of submitting MGMT_OP_ADD_ADVERTISING; published evidence establishes the read but not code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
