CVE-2026-53238

Local service interrupt via short Netlink mask

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel allows local users to interrupt kernel availability through a crafted Generic Netlink request. The netlbl_unlabel_addrinfo_get() path validates address-attribute length but reads a shorter mask attribute as a complete IPv4 or IPv6 address structure. Low-privileged local access is required; published assessments limit impact to availability but do not identify whether the interrupt is a crash or hang.
