CVE-2026-53225Network attack vector

Out-of-bounds kernel read via truncated SCTP ASCONF parameter

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Uninitialized-memory use in Linux Kernel SCTP handling allows remote attackers to trigger an out-of-bounds kernel read via malformed ASCONF chunks. The __sctp_rcv_asconf_lookup() path verifies only enough chunk space for headers before af->from_addr_param() trusts the declared parameter length and reads a full address. An unauthenticated SCTP peer can reach the no-association path with a truncated IPv6 parameter, causing the receive path to consume up to 16 uninitialized bytes; kernel.org does not specify an observable leak or service-failure mode.
