Local privilege escalation via signed IPC truncation
Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Linux Kernel ivpu IPC handling allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through malformed firmware data. The receive path casts firmware-supplied data_size to signed int in min_t(), turning values of 0x80000000 or greater negative before an oversized memcpy overruns a stack buffer. Low privileges and local access are required; memory corruption can crash the kernel or elevate privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
