Service crash via unchecked Huffman table writes
Published Apr 2, 2026 · Updated Apr 2, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in LibRaw 0.22.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash applications that process a crafted RAW image file. HuffTable::initval trusts JPEG DHT bits[] counts when sizing and filling hufftable, allowing the h index or huffval position to exceed its allocated bounds. Exploitation requires a consuming application to open attacker-supplied image data; published scoring limits the demonstrated impact to availability.
