CVE-2026-53131Network attack vector

Remote out-of-bounds read via unchecked Ethernet header

Published Jun 25, 2026 · Updated Jun 25, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel netfilter allows remote attackers to access invalid memory through crafted network traffic. The ip6t_eui64, xt_mac, three MAC-aware ipset types, and nf_log_syslog call eth_hdr(skb) without establishing an Ethernet device and a set, full-length MAC header. The vulnerable path must process a non-Ethernet skb or one with an unset or truncated MAC header; Linux has not specified the resulting operational effect.
