Kernel use-after-free via unlocked driver_override access
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel WMI platform bus in 6.11 and later affected branches allows local users to trigger unsafe reuse of freed memory. During __driver_attach(), the bus match callback reads driver_override without holding the device lock, permitting the field's storage to be freed while it is used. Access requires a low-privileged local context, and the public record establishes no postcondition beyond the kernel use-after-free.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
