Local kernel compromise via unlocked driver override
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Use-after-free in the Linux kernel 5.17 through 6.18.32 and 6.19 through 7.0.9 allows local users to compromise kernel execution. During __driver_attach(), the vDPA bus match callback reads driver_override without the device lock, so a concurrent update can free the referenced object while it remains in use. The vulnerable vDPA driver-matching path must be exercised locally; a successful race can crash the system or corrupt kernel execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
