Kernel compromise via incorrect unsigned BPF extension
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Incorrect value extension in the Linux Kernel s390 BPF JIT allows local users to alter kernel memory via crafted BPF programs. In arch/s390/net/bpf_jit_comp.c, the JIT sign-extends unsigned kfunc arguments and BPF program return values instead of zero-extending them, so attacker-controlled high bits cross the verifier/native ABI boundary. Reaching the flaw requires BPF-loading privileges or delegated BPF access on an affected s390 system; triggering the generated code allows kernel-memory disclosure or modification, privilege escalation, or a kernel panic.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
