CVE-2026-53106

Local system hang via NMI storage deletion

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

Denial of service in Linux Kernel 5.13 through 7.0.9 allows local users to hang the system by deleting BPF local storage in NMI context. bpf_selem_unlink() defers freeing storage elements through RCU callbacks that can deadlock when invoked from non-maskable interrupt or reentrant context. Low-privilege local access and a path invoking a bpf_xxx_storage_delete() helper during NMI are required; the reported impact is a host hang without data disclosure or modification.
