Local kernel crash via obsolete CFI guard
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Denial of service in Linux Kernel 7.0 through 7.0.9 allows local users to crash the kernel by triggering a BPF destructor CFI mismatch. In kernel/bpf/btf.c, btf_check_dtor_kfuncs uses the obsolete CONFIG_CFI_CLANG guard, so the compiler omits validation that rejects mismatched destructor function types. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a CFI-enabled build; the resulting CFI failure produces a kernel Oops and service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
