CVE-2026-53088Network attack vector

Kernel memory corruption via incorrect transmit cleanup

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

Memory corruption in the bcmgenet Ethernet driver in Linux Kernel allows remote attackers to crash or compromise affected hosts. bcmgenet_put_txcb calculates the transmit-control-block address from write_ptr before rewinding that pointer, so cleanup selects the next free block instead of the block being returned. Exposure requires a Broadcom GENET interface and traffic that reaches the transmit error or reclaim path; the wrong cleanup can leave stale packet or DMA metadata and corrupt kernel state.
