CVE-2026-53078

Kernel pointer disclosure via stale sock_ops register

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Linux Kernel BPF sock_ops allows local users to disclose kernel pointers through crafted same-register programs. The SOCK_OPS_GET_SK and SOCK_OPS_GET_FIELD macros fail to zero dst_reg after borrowing a temporary register when dst_reg equals src_reg and the full-socket check fails. Loading and attaching the program requires local BPF and network-administration privileges; the stale context pointer can drive a stack out-of-bounds read or be exposed as a scalar kernel address.
