Privilege escalation via unvalidated ACAP configuration
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Improper input validation in AXIS OS 12.0.0 through 12.11.11 allows attackers to gain elevated privileges via a malicious ACAP application. Axis identifies an ACAP configuration file as the locus but has not disclosed which field or type is accepted without validation or how the value crosses a privilege boundary. Exploitation requires unsigned ACAP installation to be enabled and an authorized victim to install the attacker-supplied application; Axis has not disclosed the resulting elevated capabilities.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
