System crash via error-pointer dereference
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in Linux Kernel 6.18 through 6.18.32 and 6.19 through 7.0.9 allows local users to crash the system. In cd321x_update_work() in drivers/usb/typec/tipd/core.c, a failed typec_register_partner() call leaves tps->partner as an ERR_PTR, but execution continues and passes it to typec_partner_set_identity(). The published assessment requires local low-privilege access; the documented consequence is availability loss, with no data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
