CVE-2026-52972

Local service interruption via oversized AEAD AD length

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

Integer overflow in AF_ALG in Linux Kernel allows local users to interrupt service via an oversized AEAD associated-data length. The af_alg_cmsg_send function stores the user-controlled 32-bit ALG_SET_AEAD_ASSOCLEN value without rejecting values at or above 0x80000000, allowing later TX-buffer size checks to wrap. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access to AF_ALG; the public record does not specify whether the resulting interruption is a crash or hang.
