CVE-2026-52925

Kernel crash via unsynchronized VRF port removal

Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026

NULL pointer dereference in the Linux Kernel VRF driver allows local users to crash the kernel during VRF port removal. Without RCU synchronization after IFF_L3MDEV_SLAVE is cleared, l3mdev_fib_table_rcu dereferences l3mdev operations from a replacement master, such as a bridge, that lacks them. Triggering the race requires local low-privileged access and concurrent reassignment of a VRF port; the reported consequence is a kernel NULL dereference and service interrupt.
