CVE-2026-52905

Local service interruption via unvalidated DAMON region size

Published Jun 9, 2026 · Updated Jun 9, 2026

Improper input validation in Linux Kernel 6.18 through 7.0.3 allows local users to interrupt service through the DAMON sysfs interface. During damon_start(), the sysfs path accepts a min_region_sz that is not a power of two and creates unaligned DAMON region address ranges. Exploitation requires CONFIG_DAMON_SYSFS and permission to write its administrative files; published sources do not identify whether interruption occurs as a crash or hang.
