Sandboxed code execution via crafted PDF use-after-free
Published Apr 1, 2026 · Updated Apr 1, 2026
Use after free in Google Chrome's PDF component before 146.0.7680.178 allows remote attackers to execute code inside its sandbox. Google has not disclosed the specific PDF object, code path, or lifetime transition that causes memory to be accessed after it is freed. Exploitation requires a user to open a crafted PDF, and the reported execution remains sandboxed absent a separate escape.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
