Cross-scope rate manipulation via missing parent-child validation
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Improper authorization in Kimai before 2.57.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter billing rates outside their scope. Project, customer, and activity rate-edit controllers resolve parent and rate route parameters independently but never confirm that the rate belongs to that parent. Edit permission on one parent and knowledge of another valid rate ID suffice to persist unauthorized billing changes that distort budgets, revenue reports, and invoices.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
