Unauthorized timesheet creation via stale access checks
Published Sep 15, 2026 · Updated Sep 15, 2026
Improper authorization in Kimai before 2.58.0 allows remote authenticated users to create timesheets for projects after access is revoked. TimesheetVoter evaluates own-timesheet permission before current team access, while canStart() checks visibility without verifying current access to the referenced project and activity. Exploitation requires an owned historical entry and revoked team access, and the resulting records corrupt project tracking, budgets, reports, statistics, and invoices.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
