Process crash via unbounded Rust demangling
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Out-of-memory allocation in Ghidra before 12.0.3 allows attackers to crash the application by analyzing a crafted binary. The GPL/DemanglerGnu rust_demangle path sends malformed Rust v0 symbol expansion to str_buf_reserve, which doubles the output buffer without a maximum-size check. A user must open or analyze the attacker-supplied binary; the resulting resource exhaustion interrupts that Ghidra process without reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
