Arbitrary file write via unchecked ZIP paths
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
Path traversal in Ghidra before 12.0.2 allows remote attackers to write files through a crafted extension ZIP installed by a user. The extension installer in ExtensionUtils.java concatenates each untrusted ZIP entry name with installDir and writes it without checking that the destination remains inside that directory. A user must select the malicious ZIP and approve installation; writes are limited to locations writable by that user but can enable code execution.
