CVE-2026-52718Network attack vector

Application crash via AV1 parser byte-bit confusion

Published Jun 15, 2026 · Updated Jun 15, 2026

Denial of service in GStreamer's gst-plugins-bad before 1.28.4 allows remote attackers to crash media applications with crafted AV1 data. The gst_av1_parser_parse_tile_list_obu() function passes a byte count to gst_bit_reader_skip(), which treats it as bits and misaligns the parser. Exploitation requires a user to open attacker-supplied AV1 media and terminates the parsing application through an assertion failure.
