Unauthenticated filesystem read and write access
Published Jul 6, 2026 · Updated Jul 6, 2026
Authentication bypass in affected Ciena 6500 and CPL releases allows remote attackers to read or modify files through the default SFTP server. Ciena identifies the default SFTP server as the affected component but has not disclosed the alternate path, channel, or validation error that accepts an unauthenticated session. Network access to the SFTP service is the only published gate; no credentials or user interaction are required, and impact is limited to filesystem reads and writes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
