CVE-2026-52492

Heap corruption via overflowing strip-size multiplication

Published Aug 24, 2026 · Updated Aug 24, 2026

Heap-based buffer overflow in libtiff rgb2ycbcr allows context-dependent attackers to corrupt memory via a crafted TIFF image. The cvtRaster() function multiplies untrusted image dimensions to size strip buffers without detecting integer wraparound, so it allocates too little heap memory before YCbCr conversion writes past the allocation. Exploitation requires the rgb2ycbcr utility to process the crafted image; the published record establishes heap corruption but does not establish code execution or a reliable crash.
