Code execution via wrapped section-count multiplication
Published Aug 24, 2026 · Updated Aug 24, 2026
Integer overflow in libtiff tiffcrop 85f2ac8e0b01cb7db2bbecf4a3b891bdbef67938 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted -S dimensions. The process_command_opts() routine multiplies unsigned 32-bit column and row values before comparing the result with MAX_SECTIONS, so a wrapped product bypasses the 32-section limit while oversized dimensions remain stored. Exploitation requires control of tiffcrop command-line options; the public reproducer demonstrates the validation bypass, but it does not disclose the subsequent code-execution chain.
