CVE-2026-52489

Arbitrary code execution via unbounded SVG name copy

Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Buffer overflow in GPAC's SVG generator allows context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code through crafted RNG/XML input. svgNameToImplementationName uses strcpy to copy an XML-provided name into a 50-byte destination without checking its length, after which strchr can scan beyond the buffer. The flaw is reached only when the generator processes attacker-controlled RNG/XML; the overflow can crash the process or corrupt execution.
