Unauthorized function execution via continued request processing
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Open Library Foundation VuFind 11.0.3 and 4.1 allows remote attackers to execute denied controller functions. VuFind\Controller\AbstractBase::validateAccessPermission returns an access-denied response without halting request processing. Remote attackers need no prior privileges; protected controller functions execute even though VuFind reports that access was denied.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
