Code execution via attacker-controlled nested configuration
Published Jun 3, 2026 · Updated Jun 3, 2026
Remote code execution in LightGlue model loading in Hugging Face Transformers before 5.5.0 allows remote attackers to run Python modules. LightGlueConfig accepts trust_remote_code from an untrusted config.json and passes it to nested AutoConfig.from_pretrained calls, overriding the caller's false setting. Exploitation requires a victim to initialize an attacker-controlled model repository; the imported module then executes with that Python process's privileges.
