RTSP access interruption via malformed DESCRIBE URL
Published Jul 9, 2026 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Improper input validation in the MERCURY MIPC252W RTSP service 1.0.5 Build 230306 Rel.79931n allows remote attackers to interrupt RTSP access. The parser passes a malformed DESCRIBE request-line URL into authentication logic, corrupting RTSP state and counting the request as a failed login. The attacker must reach TCP port 554 on an adjacent network; about three sequences lock out that source IP for roughly 40 minutes to several hours, while other source IPs remain unaffected.
