Authenticated arbitrary file read via unsanitized GET path
Published Jul 20, 2026 · Updated Jul 20, 2026
Path traversal in FileThingie 2.5.7 allows remote authenticated users to read files accessible to the web server via a crafted request. The getfile controller sanitizes the file value in $_REQUEST but passes the unchanged $_GET value containing traversal sequences directly to fopen(). A valid application session is required, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the web server account.
