Contributor-level defacement via underprivileged capability check
Published Aug 22, 2026 · Updated Aug 22, 2026
Missing authorization in WPSoul Greenshift 12.8.9 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to change site-wide theme colors. The gspb_update_global_wp_settings REST callback authorizes requests with edit_posts, letting contributor accounts submit global color values reserved for administrators. Contributor-level access is required, and successful changes persist across the site as visual defacement without exposing data or interrupting service.
