Memory disclosure or crash via excess coordinates
Published Jul 7, 2026 · Updated Jul 7, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in FreeType 2.14.3 allows remote attackers to disclose memory or crash font-processing applications via variable fonts. TT_Get_Var_Design copies default-axis values into requested coordinate slots after its axis metadata array ends instead of zeroing excess slots. Reachability requires an application to process a variable font and request more design coordinates than the font exposes; the result is memory disclosure or a process crash.
