Metric injection via unvalidated tag control characters
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
CRLF injection in Metrics::Any::Adapter::DogStatsd before 0.04 allows attackers to inject arbitrary metrics through crafted tags. The _tags function accepts newline and StatsD control characters in untrusted tag content instead of replacing or rejecting them. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled tags, allowing forged monitoring data to reach a DogStatsd receiver.
